Saving Acrobat (.pdf) Files for Web and Email Use
Users of Adobe Acrobat have several options when converting any file to an Acrobat .pdf file. The choice should be made on how the file will be used. Any PDF document can be opened with Acrobat and Reader 5.0 and later. The:

Smallest File Size should be used as the default for all files converted for use on the web and for email to others to view on a computer screen or for printing for individual use.

Standard should be used for detailed business documents that will be printed and duplicated on office laser printers and copiers.

High Quality - Use these settings to create PDF documents with higher image resolution for quality printing and publishing of brochures and news letters..

Press Quality - Use these settings to create PDF documents with higher image resolution for high quality pre-press printing. These settings require font embedding.
File size saving options can be set two ways. The first method:

Default setting can be set by opening Acrobat Distiller from the Start, All Programs menu.

Use the dropdown menu to select "Smallest File Size.
Or the second method when converting an individual document:

When converting a document of any kind to an Acrobat file you form the file menu or press CTRL+P.

Select "Adobe PDF" as the printer from the dropdown menu.

Click on the "Properties" button next to the dropdown menu.

Select "Smallest File Size" from the dropdown menu in the Properties window for documents to be used on web sites or sent via email.
